Fury sign up Wilson

wilsonA-League new boys North Queensland Fury have filled their final overseas squad place with the signing of defender Scott Wilson from Dunfermline Athletic.

The Scot, who skippers his current side in the Scottish First Division, has penned a two-year deal and joins Robbie Fowler, Felipe, James Robinson and Jeremy Brockie in Fury’s foreign contingent.

The 31-year-old brings a wealth of experience from Britain, having started his career at Rangers before a spell in England with Portsmouth.

Fury manager Ian Ferguson, who first crossed paths with Wilson at Rangers, was delighted to add the uncompromising defender to his ranks.

“I’m trying to build a team with experience and young legs and Scott was in my thoughts right from the start,” he said.

“When I was getting players on board, it kept coming back to me that a player like Scott would be a good fit.

“I think he’s the best in the Scottish League at the moment and he’ll certainly bring a lot to the team with the experience he’s got.”
